100-524 - Congaree Swamp National Monument Expansion and Wilderness Act10/24/198815,010This law authorized potential wilderness to be converted to designated wilderness after any non-Federal interests in land had been acquired and all non-conforming uses ceased. Approximately 6,690 acres of potential wilderness was converted in 2014. The converted acreage comprises all but about 60 acres of designated potential wilderness in Congaree National Park. The approximately 90 acres of private land still remaining within the park's designated potential wilderness are not affected.1
