For security purposes and to ensure that Wilderness Connect remains available to all users, our computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act. For additional data security purposes, Wilderness Connect uses a proprietary database format that does not allow users to directly download data. Since wilderness data is considered public information, however, individuals with specific data needs can email Lisa Ronald to request custom downloads of wilderness data.
