Wilderness Connect, housed on the University of Montana campus, acknowledges that we are on the traditional lands of the Salish and Kalispel people, who have stewarded this land throughout many generations and are its past, present, and future caretakers.
Information collected from users who contact Wilderness Connect is used solely for informational purposes to inform website development. No lists of contact information or emails are distributed. Except to assist authorized law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits.
For website management, general usage information is collected for statistical purposes using Google Analytics and serves to inform content development, technical specifications, and system performance decision-making.
Information presented on Wilderness Connect is considered public information and may be distributed or copied. Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credits is requested according to our image library policy.
For security purposes and to ensure that Wilderness Connect remains available to all users, our computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act. For additional data security purposes, Wilderness Connect uses a proprietary database format that does not allow users to directly download data. Since wilderness data is considered public information, however, individuals with specific data needs can email Lisa Ronald to request custom downloads of wilderness data.
