Paleontological Resource Management

These courses are hosted by the Arthur Carhart National Wilderness Training Center.

Fundamentals

This is the first in a series of three courses in the Paleontological Resource Management in Wilderness course of study. This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of the importance of paleontological resources in wilderness, and how stewardship of those resources differs in wilderness from areas that are not wilderness. 

There is one strongly recommended prerequisite for this course, The Wilderness Act of 1964. It is also recommended that you take the Writing a Minimum Requirements Analysis course.

Inventory & Monitoring

This is the second in a series of three courses in the Paleontological Resource Management in Wilderness course of study. This course provides you with a basic understanding of the inventory and monitoring processes as related to paleontological resources. 

There is one strongly recommended prerequisite for this course, The Wilderness Act of 1964. It is also recommended that you take the Writing a Minimum Requirements Analysis course and Paleontological Resource Management in Wilderness: Fundamentals

Evaluating Scientific Proposals

This is the third in a series of three courses in the Paleontological Resource Management in Wilderness course of study. This course discusses the process for evaluating proposals for conducting scientific activity in wilderness related to paleontological resources and the decisions wilderness managers must make in order to preserve wilderness character with such activity. 

There is one strongly recommended prerequisite for this course, The Wilderness Act of 1964. It is also recommended that you take the Writing a Minimum Requirements Analysis course, Paleontological Resource Management in Wilderness: Fundamentals, and Paleontological Resource Management in Wilderness: Inventory and Monitoring.
