Wilderness Skills Institute

The Wilderness Skills Institute is a training partnership between the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, the Forest Service and Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards. The Institute currently features two weeks of training hosted each year in the spring at the Cradle of Forestry facility outside of Brevard, North Carolina on the Pisgah Ranger District of the Pisgah National Forest.

Ninemile Wildlands Training Center

Located at the historic Ninemile Ranger Station on the Lolo National Forest in west central Montana, the Ninemile Wildlands Training Center classes cover all different types of traditional skills: care and handling of traditional tools, horsemanship and packing, historic building preservation and maintenance, and low impact backcountry stock use.
