Audience
This course is focused specifically on the stewardship of wilderness in the United States and is appropriate for mid-level decision makers with wilderness stewardship oversight and staff who work occurs in wilderness.
Description
Regional Wilderness Stewardship Training Courses are four-day courses design to provide fundamental knowledge of the wilderness act and its implementation, spend time on topics of special interests in the region, provide networking opportunities among other wilderness professionals, and to reenforce connections to the wilderness resource. This course includes formal presentations, group discussions, case studies and a field trip into a local wildland area. In-class portions focus on the interpretation and application of the Wilderness Act of 1964, agency policy, and wilderness management principles for effective stewardship. Regional courses also address topics of relevance in the region of location.
Prerequisites
The course requires completion of two online courses prior to attending, The Wilderness Act and Writing a Minimum Requirements Analysis.
